Arnold®, Brownberry® and Oroweat® Breads Announce Inaugural Get Ingrained™ Grants Program

Initiative Awards $30,000 in Grants to Leaders of Health and Wellness-Based Community Initiatives

HORSHAM, PA (July 21, 2010) – “Health is wealth," as the old saying goes, and beginning July 12th, Arnold, Brownberry and Oroweat breads are bringing that statement to fruition with the introduction of the inaugural Get Ingrained™ Grants Program. This program will award two $15,000 grants to people or organizations committed to bettering the health of their communities, furthering these brands' ongoing commitment to wellness and empowering a worldwide community of bread-lovers to live the best lives possible.

"The Arnold, Brownberry and Oroweat brands have long stood for health and nutrition," said Aaron Strickler, Assistant Brand Manager, "and we've taken strides over the years to improve the nutritional content of our products. The Get Ingrained™ Grants program provides us the distinctive opportunity to show that our dedication to the health of our consumers extends well outside the breadbox."

Arnold, Brownberry and Oroweat breads – joined under the banner of Bimbo Bakeries USA, America's largest producer and distributor of bread products – are dedicated to empowering those individuals and organizations that have taken it upon themselves to better the health of citizens in their neighborhoods, towns or cities. From building and promoting community vegetable gardens, to inspiring local schools to provide healthy food options for students, the door is wide open for purpose-driven Americans to share insight into the positive changes they make every day and the difference a $15,000 grant would mean to their projects.

How it Works:

Entering the Get Ingrained™ Grants program is simple: From now through October 4th, individuals or groups interested in submitting an entry can visit the official program website, http://www.getingrained.com, for a list of key dates, rules and regulations, and submission requirements. A complete entry includes the following:

  • An essay of no more than 250 words, which describes a personal or organizational mission to improve health and wellness in their community through nutrition-based initiatives
  • A budget overview, complete with an explanation of how an infusion of $15,000 would help to implement a new project, or expand or complete a project that is already underway

On October 25th, our company will post five finalists on http://www.getingrained.com, and the public will have an opportunity to vote to select the two winners who will ultimately receive the $15,000 Get Ingrained™ Grant.

Who Can Enter:

The Get Ingrained™ Grants program is open to U.S. residents aged 18 years and older, who lead or inspire health and wellness-based initiatives in their communities.
